I am not a fan of Brutalism. While I haven't seen enough to say with confidence what is the ugliest building in America..I can say that any of the Brutalist dorms on Cal Poly San Luis Obospo's campus are far uglier than Boston 's city hall.
Itβs interesting to think of Brutalism as being controversial and even at times not well-received even back in its heyday. I tend to assume that it just fell out of style and is underappreciated, much like Victorian architecture was in the MCM era.

I have many fond memories of farmers markets and music festivals in the shadow of that awesome building!
