I recently discovered the work of Lima-based architect Martin Dulanto. Iām undoubtedly late to the party but, wow. Dulantoās work is striking but balanced, and delivers solidly on the promise of harmony with some absurdly gorgeous natural settings. Brb booking a plane ticket to Peru.
Dulanto, who graduated from the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences (UPC) in 2007, cites Charles Eames, Marcio Kogan, Richard Serra, and Jackson Pollock as key influences. He co-founded Taller 33, working there from 2008 to 2012, and later taught Architectural Design at UPC from 2012 to 2014. Since establishing his own studio, MartĆn Dulanto Arquitecto, in 2012, he's focused on residential architecture mostly in South America.
Despite handful of awards and various magazine features, Dulantoās work strikes me as pretty underrated. Check out my favorite projects from his portfolio below:
