Film icon David Lynch’s Hollywood Hills compound, recently listed for $15 million. The home has quite a few layers of architectural and cinematic history, but more importantly feels like a personal relic of an enigmatic creative.

The home’s core structure is the Beverly Johnson House, built in 1963 by Lloyd Wright, son of Frank Lloyd Wright on a hillside lot in Hollywood. Lynch acquired the property in 1987 for a reported $560,000.

In 1991 Lynch commissioned Eric Lloyd Wright, grandson of Frank Lloyd Wright, to design a pool and pool house on the site, establishing a rare multigenerational Wright connection in the architecture. While the property has its share of Wrightian lineage and Brutalist additions, but also an obvious ‘lynchian’ vibe (macabre + mundane).

Over time the estate expanded to include multiple neighboring parcels, standalone structures such as guest houses, a studio building, screening room, editing suite, and one structure with a brutalist aesthetic that Lynch used both for practical work and in film-making (notably as the “Madison” house in Lost Highway). The entire property now occupies over two acres with 11,000+ square feet of living space.
