5 Eames-Designed Arts & Architecture Covers
Curated Mid-Century Modern Home Listings from Across the U.S.A. 🇺🇸
A few weeks back I wrote something of an ode to the Eames Lounge Chair.
Today’s focus is on 1/2 of that ultimate design duo; Ray Eames. Aside from her more famous achievements in furniture design, architecture and film, Ray was also a highly influential painter and graphic artist.
Ray Eames contributed 26 cover designs to Arts & Architecture magazine from 1942 to 1947. Many of these covers showcased an innovative use of collage and her ability to blend organic shapes with vibrant colors. Over time, her designs shifted toward more geometric and photographic styles that would become widely copied over the coming years.
